Client brief
Our client had won an NHS contract to provide dental services in Leek – they had another practice locally. On recommendation from a national specialist cabinetry and equipment supplier, we came on board whilst planning permission was being obtained ( D1 change of use) for the construction of a new, four-surgery dental practice in a derelict old public house, including decontamination room, stores, waiting/reception area, disabled WC, OPG room, filing, offices and staff areas.
Unique challenges
The existing building was an extremely old, derelict public house and required a major refurbishment including some underpinning to the rear with damp treatment, and our client was under strict timescales to open the practice.
We successfully overcame substantial issues relating to the building’s condition, completing the project within the required timescale.
